A little history about the place

THE Historic District of Beauvais is a living witness to the city's history, which dates back to Gallo-Roman times. Beauvais played a strategic role during the Hundred Years' Wars and the Norman invasions, influencing the architecture of its buildings. Traces of the city's ancient ramparts are still visible in some places in the district.

The district was also marked by the bombings of the Second World War, but the city has managed to preserve most of its heritage.
